  • Song name: So what
    Artist: Pink
    Genre: Pop I guess? Idk
It just has a really IDC attitude. It’s really easy to dance to.
Swear words/mature topics: There are a few. Proceed with caution but I think if you and your parents are ok with it I think it’s a great song.
  • I have two {:)

    Song Name: Wake Up
    Artist: Two Door Cinema Club
    Album: Beacon
    Genre: Alternative rock
What you like about the song/a general explanation of it: it’s super catchy, but still relaxing, and I love the vocals on it, they’re so pretty! It’s just overall a very fun and uplifting song, and I love it {:)
Are there any swear words or mature topics mentioned in the song? If so, how "bad" do you think it is?: Nope! I’d recommend it to anyone {:D
Other: the rest of Beacon is also fabulous, if you’re in the mood for new music to check out. My other favourite songs are Pyramid, Sun, and Sleep Alone.

    Song Name: Salvatore
    Artist: Lana Del Rey
    Genre: Dream pop/baroque pop
What you like about the song/a general explanation of it: It’s absolutely gorgeous, one of my favourite songs from Lana. It’s soothing, the instrumentation is beautiful, and the lyrics are so glamorous and elegant. I really like the vocals, I always think she sounds like a mermaid. It’s overall just a really stunning song, the chorus always makes me feel like I’m flying {:0 <3
Are there any swear words or mature topics mentioned in the song? If so, how "bad" do you think it is?: No, but a lot of Lana’s other music does, so proceed with caution if you’re going to check out any of her other work {:]
    Other: {:D
  • Song Name: All Star

    Artist: Smash Mouth

    Album: Astro Lounge

    Genre: Alternative/Indie

What you like about the song/a general explanation of it: All Star is one of my favorite songs. It’s basically a really positive song but in kind of a rock/pop form. So it’s not one of those cliché confidence songs

Are there any swear words or mature topics mentioned in the song? If so, how "bad" do you think it is?: Nope, there’s no swears or mature themes :)

Other: For some reason this song makes me think of middle school and high school
  • Song name: Fire Under My Feet
    Artist: Leona Lewis
    Album: ???
    Genre: Pop
    Swear words/mature topics: None
This song is great because it talks about how strong you can be and it's very encouraging.
  • Song Name: Broken Glass

    Artist: Rachel Platten

    Album: (optional)

Genre: (Pop, country, etc) I don't know

What you like about the song/a general explanation of it: I really like the rhythm of the song, and my friend Artemis told me the song is about feminism, which I think is awesome.

Are there any swear words or mature topics mentioned in the song? If so, how "bad" do you think it is? No

    Other:
  • Song Name: Never Let Me Go

    Artist: Florence + the Machine

    Album: (optional) Ceremonials

Genre: (Pop, country, etc) Pop, alternative/indie

What you like about the song/a general explanation of it: It describes someone drowning themselves in the ocean. What I like best about this song is the melody, it’s so pretty.

Are there any swear words or mature topics mentioned in the song? If so, how "bad" do you think it is?: No swearing, but its main topic is suicide, so only listen to it if you’re okay with that.

Other: Another song with basically the same theme as this one is What The Water Gave Me, where the reason she drowns herself is explained a bit more.
  • Song Name: Welcome to the Black Parade

    Artist: My Chemical Romance

    Album: The Black Parade

    Genre: Rock, I guess.

What you like about the song/a general explanation of it: honestly everything about this song is amazing. It’s so anthemic and uplifting, it poignantly and engrossingly tells a story, it has a lot of different layers to it and the song has several sections that are unique, every part of it is really well done. It’s a classic, it’s iconic, i have so many fond memories of singing it on NM sing-alongs before the great deletion. I just love every single thing about it and the album in general, it is truly a treasure. If you like rock/“alternative” music you will like it.

Are there any swear words or mature topics mentioned in the song? If so, how "bad" do you think it is?: There is one swear but it isn’t bad. The only mature topics mentioned are death and darkness, if you’re uncomfortable with that being illustrated I would say proceed with caution.

Other: this is a really cool board that i will absolutely be spamming! If you like this song I would definitely recommend the rest of the album because it is pure and precious gold that I cannot praise highly enough. It’s a really interesting and creative album following the story of a cancer patient and his life before and after he contracted the disease, and it has really cool music videos to go along with it that I love. Other great songs from the album are Famous Last Words, Sleep, Disenchanted, Dead!, Mama, and How I Disappear, but this is a really good one to get started with.
    • @Other: ^^^ to the first sentence, this is indeed a great board which I shall be spamming a lot >:)

Speaking Before Thinking

I tend to snap at people a lot even when I'm not feeling angry and I don't know why and I want some advice on how to stop snapping so often. -Anonymous      I’m sorry that you’re struggling with this; it’s really difficult when emotions start bubbling over and a line is accidentally crossed, especially when it’s toward a loved one. I can certainly relate to this; when I get overwhelmed, stressed, and anxious, I do have a tendency to be a little cold and, sometimes, rude to the people I love.…

Help with Making Friends

My mom says that I need to put myself out there more and be more social, but I really struggle with, say, just going up to the other kids in a class or program and talking, or making friends. Any tips for being more social? -Anonymous      I myself have had a lot of trouble making friends, speaking out, and being social throughout my life. I’ve always been quite shy, and especially when I was younger, I worried that I’d never be able to make good friends. Now I’m seventeen, I have a small group…

Dealing with Scary Thoughts

Okay i am feeling a bit scared about Dying I never really thought about till my eleventh birthday And i really need some advice – Anonymous      This is a really big, serious topic, but I want to try to tackle it because I know I would have appreciated it when I was younger. As a younger child, I’d sometimes have trouble falling asleep, and with all that empty time for my mind to wander, I always found it drifting towards death. Before I give any advice, I just want to say that I’m really…

How to Talk to Your Crush

I have a crush on somebody, and I really like them. I want to tell them that I have a crush on them, but I’m worried they won’t like me back and I won’t even be able to be friends with them. What should I do? -Anonymous Your not alone anon, that’s a fear everyone has when they have crush- and it makes sense! Your admiting your personal feelings to another person, being scared of rejection is completely understandable. First of all, if you’re not already friends with this person, try becoming…
