This is basically a board for anyone with a disease/condition or anyone who has ever been sick or at the hospital to share their experiences. (Anyone else is also welcome to learn about different conditions/experiences). I've just always wanted to know about other kids who have to live with a challenging disease.
To start, I have a rare auto-immune disease called Neuromyelitis Optica and it put me in the hospital for a month two years ago. When I got it I was kind of freaked out. I'm slower when I take tests at school and have to go to a seperate room for extended time-- which I don't neccessarily feel good about-- and sometimes I don't understand things as quickly. It makes my immune system is weaker too. I go to the hospital every few months for infusions of medicine and MRIs of my brain, and I have to say that it gets better every time. But overall, I feel like having a disease like this makes you more independent and stronger.
I'd love to hear about any other experiences with getting and having a disease/condition and any challenges you have (maybe others could relate to) :)
